Still only one EV in easy range of Eastern suburbs. The single unit at paknsave, often find it in use and have to drive home again.Next one is over the hill near the zoo.(there's a free slow charger at the sports ground, which isn't going to help me get across town on a day my car is flat)

@Br3nda There's one off Cuba St. near SH1. But other than that, yeah, a desert. It's almost as if Wellington is trying to discourage EVs.

@vik @Br3nda Wellington has very few public chargers. I was fortunate enough to be able to install a 7kW charger at home and have off road parkingOk… we have 4Ha and there are many places to abandon a vehicle, but more relevant is that we have a covered carport and a small garage

@vik @Br3nda I think it's partly because Wellington parking spaces are already at a ludicrous premium (parking buildings closed/demolished for earthquake work and so on), but yes, annoying. They're not common enough anywhere, really, and it's going to be tough to keep up with the accelerating fleet uptake.

@jonathanharkerThe problem is when you come to Wellington to visit. You've come a long way, probably from a small place with no public transport, so you need to park and charge.@Br3nda

@vik @Br3nda totally. One day it will dawn on carpark operators to install EV chargers and build solar PV to both stop cars overheating in the sun and generate electricity to offset the chargers.
