"Let me be blunt: encryption is either broken for everyone, or it works for everyone. There is no way to create a safe backdoor."@Mer__edith calls the #OnlineSafetyBill what it is, a menace to privacy and a way to impose mass surveillance via our messaging apps.#privacy #surveillance #e2ee #encryption A must read 👇https://signal.org/blog/uk-online-safety-bill/

.@openrightsgroup @Mer__edithAs long as Signal remans a data silo and a single point of failure, encryption should be the least of its users' worries...Decentralise now.

@haverholm @openrightsgroup @Mer__edith Exactly this. Signal is a security fraud for as long as they desperately grasp for centralized control of as many "users" as possible. This is a thread from 2016, clearly showing the intent of the founding team of Signal: https://github.com/LibreSignal/LibreSignal/issues/37#issuecomment-217211165My view is that Signal is a fraud, just as WhatsApp's "end to end encryption" is. Or Zoom for that matter - "oh it's end-to-end encrypted, it's just that we also have the keys!" Regardless of whether E2E encryption is actually in place, the privacy intrusion is NOT in your messages. Nobody cares about what you're texting or saying. The intrusion lies in WHO you talk with, how often, and for how long. Signal, like WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, etc, collects this data and - I have no doubt - uses it against the best interest of its users. Also this is great: https://dessalines.github.io/essays/why_not_signal.htmlThanks @parsa

@andreasm @haverholm @openrightsgroup @Mer__edith Signal does NOT have the keys to encrypt your messages and they also does NOT know who you're talking with.Stop spreading disinfo.
