       In today's #xmpp client dev adventures: I can't see my own messages once they're sent. I know I still have to finish wiring up local echo, the on-device archive, and later down the line MAM too. But shouldn't it still be echoed to me, so that I know the server received it?

       @blake you can use XEP-0198 to track your outgoing message.

       @daniel That's part of the "local echo wiring" that I already have in place. Right now though it isn't told to render the message, because I assumed it would echo it back to me anyway (or maybe it does and the SDK eats it because of stream management lol)

       @blake No it’s not echoed back to you (on a protocol level). You only get the ACK.Due to network latency it would not be advisable to only render the message upon echo anyway. (You do get an echo in group chats.)
