I have a newfound respect for people who wear glasses. Because rain and cold. Carefully polishing them off to avoid water stains, or not being able to see shit because of them misting over.Solidarity with people who wear spectacles. You are my peoples now. ✊

@BarrenPlanet I have even greater respect for spec wearers who also cycle in mist, light rain, downpours and fog. I've done it...luckily on a deserted country road.

@Judeet88 I just now walked into a petrol station and the sudden temperature change caused my glasses to mist over, so I had to take them off, but that didn't help because then my eyes needed time to adjust. So there I am bumbling around in a confusing phantasmagoria, waiting for some clarity to arrive. 😆

@timrichards @Judeet88 It's taken me longer than it should have, on account of my short-range vision still being crisp, so it was an easy problem to ignore. But the penumbra of vagueness has been rapidly closing in on me, of late, so I spent the money to correct itBut then you take them off and your eyes are like, "Wtf is going on?!" 🤣

@az It's being punched that worries me. You really do NOT want to be wearing glasses if you're struck hard in the face.Not only the cost of the glasses, but potentially the cost of an eye.

@marq @az I know, I trained one-on-one under a UK and world champion cage fighter, and my profile pic reflects that. It was taken last year. But that doesn't stop me being nervous about having pieces of fragile glass right in front of my eyes.If it came to it, I'd probably whip them off and throw them over a wall, to stop them being stamped on...but then I'd be fighting a blurry ghost for about 30 secs while my eyes adjusted.

@marq @az Muay Thai guy here. I trianed in a sort of vaguely Shotokan-style karate from the age of 14, but got bored with it. It wasn't focussed enough on real violence for me.Since then I've done Western boxing, and various other martial arts, and was terrible at all of them because I have zero discipline.But Muay Thai? Oh hell yeah! That's where it is, for me personally, and I am not disparaging your own chosen art. ❤🙏

@BarrenPlanet @azI did muay Thai some before I got into motorcycle racing. I do karate because I'm old and it's my preferred workout. The teens I teach are fun, too.
