       A thing I&#39;ve learned about people is they have a strong aversion to awkward silences. You can use this to your advantage. For example if someone says something ridiculous to you, you can just stare at them while maintaining a neutral expression and they will fill in that space with more stuff. Just let them. Keep it awkward. As long as you don&#39;t care about making it awkward you have the upper hand. If you have to say anything make it a question like &quot;what motivated you to say that?&quot;
