       @textfiles I'm not gonna lie, that's really cool. Gives me a Hitchhiker's Guide kind of feeling.

       @textfiles One of the neat things I found out urecently is some Boy Scout troops are just known as Scouts because they allow girls. Specifically so they can learn outdoor skills they'd been wanting to learn. That made ne so happy.

       @textfiles Imagine being a child and having the ability to not-reading #books (at all) because of ability "to talk" to a book via #AI . Is this really future we want for our #children ?

       @sternecker @textfiles I think about that Primer often; it was such a powerfully imagined thing, I'm not sure I'll ever forget about it.

       @eminence @sternecker When I was much younger and hadn't started doing documentaries but had a film degree, I wanted to film the scene where Nell first finds the book, just to express it - I liked that scene.

       @cainmark Yes, I chose the 1911 book because I wanted to collide its style and writing with modern sensibilities and see if the system noticed. And it kind of does!

       @textfiles That's a fascinating usage. At the very least it seems like it could be a great way to fuzzy search through a text:"What was the quote from Asimov near the end of the first half where he talked about Jupiter?""You are probably thinking of, 'And Jupiter stood in all it's [...]'"

       @bitcrush_io I just tried it with the book:"What is the quote in the book about how to fish?"And it said, accurately:“It is not all of fishing to fish,” and no thoughtful boy who has the interests of the country at heart, and no lover of nature, will go fishing merely for the purpose. of catching the longest possible string of fish, thus placing himself in the class of anglers properly known as “fish hogs.”

       @textfiles @lathamgreen It would be interesting to know if the book actually does contain "small amounts" of racism, or if it's just something the AI thought sounded good when prompted about stuff that's not acceptable in the 21st century. It's kind of striking that it had just established that the book is rather sexist, and still didn't manage to point this out as an aspect that didn't age well. Maybe the AI could be asked for examples of the racism? :)

       @sab @lathamgreen I asked it what the small amount of racism was:"There is a small amount of racism in this book in the way that it emphasizes the importance of the boy scouts being "good Americans." The book implies that being a good American means being from the United States and having certain values, which excludes those from other countries and backgrounds. It also implies that certain qualities are expected from some people more than others."

       @textfiles @sab I wonder where it lies on the racism scale : 32% ?
