p.s. For anyone wondering what the heck this post is about, XMPP is a federated instant messenger platform. It's like a much nicer alternative to Whatsapp.XMPP does for messaging what the Fediverse does for social media.There are lots of independent XMPP servers, and the servers form one giant federated network so you can message/call people on other servers.

@FediFollows one more to add #cheogram which unfortunately doesn't have a #fediverse presence, but does have an official #peertube channel that you can follow here:@cheogramhttps://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.cheogram.android/What sets it apart is the ability to use it in conjunction with https://jmp.chat which is essentially a bridge between regular phone lines and xmpp , I highly recommend the service!

@FediFollows WhatsApp actually uses XMPP, although a locked down proprietary version of it. If the idea of a federated messenger sounds interesting, there’s also #Matrix (https://matrix.org), which is intended to be a more secure XMPP alternative. A popular client is #Element (https://element.io).
