       @raccoonformality @kevinrns I don't disagree FL is a hellscape. I've lived here for 7 years.But, DeathSantis can be stopped. Many school districts ignore him. I live in Broward. My kid's HS, while not the hotbed of progression, has bigger fish to fry and hasn't played along. She graduates this year thankfully. You are right though. Push back needs to be strong and swift. "Normal" parents need to start getting involved and be visible about it.

       @Curiouscat I'm in the UK and am very concerned about what's going on in Florida.  It's good to hear that there is resistance; we don't see it reported very much.Specifically: I know young people aged 13-21 can get a free library card for e-books, but is there a charity that gets banned books to younger children?  I would support that.

       @mongoose The thing about FL is all the crazy you see is for the cameras. Not to say the crazies dont exist but they would out back with jethro smoothing their mullets shooting beer cans and just running at the mouth like they used to if not for opportunistic political actors.  In my opinion, if a parent is OK with books they have access to them.  At Barnes and Noble (huge bookstore chain) they have "Banned Book" displays.  So many people use Barnes and Noble like a library.

       @mongoose I still can't wrap my head around how we got here.  The outrage isnt the act DeathSantis is performing but that people dont care.  "I dont like politics." is a common phrase.  I dont like my house on fire either but I have to put it out.  I'm convinced America is a fraud.  Our country is like 2 hours old comparatively. Too many are convinced we win a prize bc 1 out if 1000 people can overcome the bullshit and succeed. Better ofds if youre white.
