       @mjg59 if a laptop's cooler can't prevent that from happening, it's illegal to be sold in the #EU which has a legally defined maximum skin contact temperature of 40°C constant and 45°C peak.

       @kkarhan all hardware on the market today can be driven in such a way that it'll exceed that limit, which is why the default behaviour if your OS doesn't support DPTF is to power limit the CPU enough to make it impossible.

       @mjg59 Oh so there is probably a broken reason behind my laptop cpu throttling to 400mhz as soon as I try to use the dGPU on battery?The same laptop also suffered from this one: https://www.phoronix.com/news/ASUS-TUF-Ryzen-Thermal-FixNow at least this one is fixed but back in the day it was quite annoying when it hit me while I tried to present something at a conference.
