Interesting. I don't think I've noticed this because I use #Node rather than #Python in Lambdas. #AWS is Asleep at the #Lambda Wheel - Last Week in AWS Blog https://www.lastweekinaws.com/blog/aws-is-asleep-at-the-lambda-wheel/

Ah this makes sense. Comment from #Reddit about it."Former AWSer here. This is by design. AWS doesn’t want to maintain new runtime environments, libraries, or applications. They want users to do it so when problems arise it’s not AWSs problem. They will only update when there is a strong push internally for it. External customers will be told “we’re working on it” while the request itself will be ignored."

@Jdreben “Serverless” just means you’re a hostage to someone else’s bidding 😆Unfortunately with serverless functions, a lot of it is locked into how the vendor implements it and it’s hard to spread the workload over multiple public clouds like one with VMs. But, there are options, like the author mentioned. They should take their money elsewhere if AWS doesn’t give a sh*t about their customers, else why keep paying to beg for them to update their stack?

@mookie Yup. It's well said.AWS gets the companies I've worked on regardless of this kind of thing, by offering crazy amounts of free credits. As long as I can get it done with AWS it's basically impossible for me to argue the economics are better (in the short term) than another provider. Because you can't beat free. The drug dealers of digital infrastructure.

@Jdreben LOL as I read your first sentence, I was like “AWS is basically a digital drug dealer” and the I got to your final sentence. 😂Terraform is great for some situations like this to enable companies to automate the building of infrastructure across public clouds, but yea, can’t beat free.

@mookie #Terraform is the best. Absolutely changes the dev ops game.

@Jdreben they were asleep for node 16 - took a year to support - node 18 was more timely
