How can I have 17 (yes, seventeen!) power points at my desk, and still have none free? HOW?

Gonna plug in another power board — but question, which one of these can I safely unplug?

I made a call - the one on the far right seems to lead to another powerboard that powers a rats nest of abandoned electronics. I unplugged it... computer's still on... storage drives still working… network's still up... okay?…

@john Which is the idea behind having an _Always On_ group in my #homeassistant setup. It coincidentally ensures I only need one well aimed shot to hit all available feet.

@john I know the struggles. My studio has a perimetral duct with 26 points, heavy duty cables and a distribution panel separate from the rest of the house, and still I need to add extenders. You never have enough.

If I were a character in a Wes Anderson film:"When his wife asked him why he needed an eighteenth powerpoint by his desk, John answered it was so he could plug in a Raspberry Pi to run the counting bot he wrote to count users federated with the Mastodon instance he runs. It was, he explained, important for his work as an Artist.Despite this, John never considered himself a nerd.”

@john a racist would say to base your decision on color. a practicing environmentalist would say to unplug them all. an electrician would calculate the amperage of each device and distribute the load across multiple circuits if needed..But you and I are practical men, so let's just unplug one and see if we can even tell what was unplugged..if after a few days you can't tell..you didn't need that one.💃

@john ffffuuuuuuck that's a lot, are you sure your house's electrical wiring is up to that much draw from one socket?

@anthracite It's six sockets! And in any case, yes, virtually nothing's drawing a significant amount of power, except maybe my Cintiq. The entire draw would be less than a heater.

@john Oh good. I live in a house with old wiring so I worry about this. :)

@anthracite I hear you! The house I grew up in had wiring from the 50s, and we were constantly paranoid. This wiring brand new, and attached to the fancy new circuit breakers and everything.
