       Do you have a VPS that you feel you are not using to its potential?Some ideas to take your mind off the hosting costs:1. Git / VCS hosting2. Gemini Capsule3. Wiki Hosting (Fossil, TiddlyWiki)4. Multiple Personal / Community websites5. Mastodon instance (for the more adventurous)6. File storage (Nextcloud etc.)7. Self hosted email (delivery is a hard problem)8. IRC Client or IRC BouncerNot doing *all* of the above, but satisfied with the various things I'm hosting.

       Self-hosting email has been my personal goal for quite a while, @samebchase, still haven’t got it working correctly (yet) :ablobsweats:On loang.net I’m also operating a @unifiedpush server ntfy and a @matrix homeserver dendrite.

       @cnx Okay, that's not encouraging. Perhaps I might setup incoming email, but use an external service for outgoing email. It is sad, but that's how things are at the moment. 🤦‍♂️

       Didn’t say it to discourage you, @samebchase, I’m a very inexperience sysadmin with zero formal training.  The reason my mail server is yet to be working is that I haven’t spent the enough effort trying understand everything about it.  I’ve seen quite many people here succeeded and hope you’ll be the next.

Even more reason to host your own, I say!If you need assistance, I can help you test things out, or share my #Postfix and #Dovecot configurations.
