@GrantMeStrength OMFG I want this so bad. I actually had the opportunity to buy a PDP-8 at one point, but I didn't have the ~$10,000 for shipping :/

@OpenComputeDesign @GrantMeStrength I have friends who have a PDP-11 (IIRC) wine cabinet. It could use some blinking lights.

@ssb don’t worry - I’m not really there right now.

@GrantMeStrength Doesn't matter. Access to a working PDP8 of any variety, with the sounds, smells, etc, associated, is enough to make me nostalgic for the past - I helped decommission some 8is and 11/40s and 11/70s back in the early 90s. I wish I'd had the money and foresight to purchase one or more of them back then.

@ssb these are all contemporary kits you can get today. If you miss them!

@GrantMeStrength @ssb I’m gonna guess that most of those have Raspberry Pi’s inside them - which can run emulators for the originals chips and still outperform the originals. Which is just crazy.

@carlrj @GrantMeStrength @ssb I believe there are also genuine 36-bit machines implemented on FPGAs, now, too.
