Some of my favourite high-context words about relationships in Tagalog (Filipino) that don't exist in English:1. Kulit: Being so exuberant, excited, or needy in a way that others find annoying but also endearing.2. Lambing: Doing or saying something you know will gently provoke someone, with the goal of letting them know you care for them.3. Gigil: An overwhelming excitement/affection for someone to the point of wanting to physically hurt them (in trivial ways).Talk about mixed messages!

@nicole Thanks for the warning. It must be so hard to read Filipinos.

@kmaustral I can't speak for everyone, but I'm married to a non-Filipino and had to learn to actively lower the necessary context of my communication. I thought it was unfair to expect him to understand behaviour that is so steeped in culture!
