A shout-out.I've been a user of DP Review for over 20 years. They consistently provide the most comprehensive, authoritative, well written, and readable digital camera reviews. Their associated videos are of a similar high standard. @Glencoe The digital effect? In the old days™ I would take ages composing my shot, and checking my settings, as I only had 36 exposures on each film. Now, in that same space of time, I can reel off hundreds of exposures.Do you get digital cameras that limit you to 36 exposures per day? 😃

@fitheach I'm looking for something small enough to fit into a cycling bag, and cheap enough not to cause much mourning when I inevitably crash and fall on said cycling bag :)

@vic I found the Lumix compact cameras to be excellent. They certainly match your first criteria, not so much on the second.Also worth considering are the "tough" models made by Olympus.

@fitheach Was chatting to a bloke with a plate camera, he'd been at the same spot for a couple of hours at least. He only had eight plates, so was taking his time!

@fitheach Probably lol. Met another guy near the same spot with an 8" X 10" plate camera. He was scanning the plates at high resolution and thought the results worth the effort.
