       @kairyssdal i'm guessing that the economists are the ones deciding on what counts as national service in this situation? the very people responsible for the holes in the social fabric.

       @kairyssdal i suppose the economists get to decide on what counts as national service? the very people who also  decided that people don't need things like fully funded public education and healthcare. no wonder the "social fabric" has holes in it.

       @kairyssdal The dumbest part of this conceit is the idea that rich and privileged won't draft dodge. A national service requirement will create a new caste system. Scions get the cushiest positions, professional class get what's left,  and the working and poor are indentured to the state.
