Yo #selfhosted community, I want to host my own photos. I have 20+ years of them, about 800gb, more than I can fit on either of my laptops. I currently have them all in Apple Photos (masters also backed up to cold storage) but I’d like to be independent of iCloud.Last time I tried this (7 years ago?) nextcloud was the “best” option but it choked on a hundred gb or so. What’s out there?

Are there any #DarkTable users in my reach? How well does it work with remote master files? How are you storing them?🏷️ #nas #samba #sshfs #s3 #selfhosted #photography #linux

@andrew NFS will give you the best performance. There is a feature called local copies in darktable that'll copy your raw to the cache disk and let you edit while the share is not mounted.

@paperdigits@andrew I agree with the NFS option. Especially with darktable. While I try to keep my working folders synced on systems with Nextcloud and make sure I select the xmp file for updating the next computer, NFS has served me before.
