Hey, since usually asking questions here works quite well, I will try that again:What makes a #matrix client something, that you would recommend to other people to try (even if you might not want to use it yourself). Or rather, what makes the client stable enough for day to day use for you. And what would make you recommend a client to someone as their first client to get started with #matrix?I am aware, that everyone has different opinions there, so I am trying to gather everything. <3

@deepbluev7 I'd like to use #Matrix and **I do**, but what stops me from using it fully&recommending it - is the encryption in DMs.For the first time when you try it, yeah, you feel protected that no hacker could see your DMs with someone, but, once you switch to another device, you will not be able to see it too.No, **don't tell me** *anything* about verifying sessions - I know it but not all @matrix 's instances support it, e.g., https://tchncs.de (the one that I use!).

@expertmanofficial So for you it is important, that a client makes E2EE easy to use and hard to do anything wrong like forget to verify a device?

@deepbluev7 Listen: E2EE is the problem! As I already said, the instance that I use - https://tchncs.de - doesn't support at all verification session thing, so it doesn't matter will you or not forget the device - it just don't support it.To make you understand what do I mean, checkout Revolt - https://revolt.chat - it doesn't E2EE for DMs so I can log in from any device to my account and always can read DMs without worrying about E2EE.You can't disable E2EE for DMs in Matrix.

@expertmanofficial @deepbluev7 You can have DM without encryption.DMs are just rooms with two people inside, so create an empty one and invite that person.

@didek @expertmanofficial Element defaults to e2ee in DMs, unless the server tells it not to. So it isn't that easy to do an unencrypted DM, when the server doesn't have that configured.

@deepbluev7 @expertmanofficial Supporting this. I moved the family over to Matrix from Google Hangouts and every so often I need to completely redo someone's profile because they've managed to screw up verification somehow. Don't ask me how though - everyone's using Element on both desktop and phones.

@troed @deepbluev7 @expertmanofficial I think the problem is with wording and the UI.Managing keys is really simple, but it took me some time to understand what is going on.

@deepbluev7 I wish for an Android app that feels really native for the platform.Something like Conversations.im, but for Matrix. But most importantly, an app with simple explanation, best with images, of E2EE.If I would do it there will be these 4 points, with one image each:"Messages in a room are encrypted with keys stored on devices""The keys can be transferred by scanning QR code from old device""If you lose all devices, there is a backup phrase""You can verify you are actually talking to real person by scanning their QR code IRL"

@deepbluev7 Biggest pain points I had is stuff not loading fast enough or databases getting corrupted if the app or device crashes suddenly. It's honestly a low bar, but a lot of clients have had trouble clearing it in my experience.

@matt Well, I was mostly looking for what defines a stable and recommendable client instead of specific examples :)
