       @science_quotes …because no scientists have ever turned their efforts toward nefarious purposes. I’m open to being corrected on this because it’s pure speculation on my part, but I would guess that more rockets have been fired in warfare than have been fired into space.

       @science_quotes Stegner probably also neglected to consider that not all scientists are atheists.I don’t know him or his work. As far as I can recall, this quote was the first time I encountered his name so there could be context I’m missing, but the quote you shared just isn’t defensible. It basically boils down to Science = Good and Religion = Bad, and there’s just no possible way to defend that position.
