@MrTinMD @acdha from the comments I am reading, many people seem to have made assumptions that flexible would be forever and made some fairly significant financial decisions based on that. Flexible is very different than remote based on what I have seen here.

@nikkid @acdha When we moved to MD the assumption was that Jean would be able to work remotely forever but I knew I'd have to return sometime, so we stayed close to Metro. Now they're making her go back 2x weekly even though can do her job 100% remotely.

@MrTinMD @nikkid @acdha For the life of me, I don't understand this fascination with requiring people to be in the office just for the sake of being in the office. Sure, make it an option, and try to make it compelling if you'd like, but if the work can be done anywhere, what does it matter? (At the end of the day, it should be about the work - not preferences or old-fashioned ideals.)

@LhasaCM @MrTinMD @nikkid that drives me up the wall. There are legitimate productivity benefits and I almost never hear anyone’s management showing conscious awareness of any of them. It’s just “why do I even have a nice office if the cubicle plebes don’t envy it?”
