       @arstechnica @hacks4pancakes sure seems insane that things like this are apparently optional in the US market. Factory fitted immobilisers were required by EU law passed in 1997 (effective in late ‘98 in the UK).The 8y gap between the EU and US markets making ABS/ESP mandatory was a fun surprise I first discovered when traffic on the freeway came to a sudden stop in bad weather during a US visit circa 2010. I had left myself enough space to react but.. I sure left a lot more after that.
