All our apologies for the service disruption. We never expected the installation of two SSDs to get to such an extent. We tried to hotplug two new SSDs which we bought recently to speed up our storage. However, they didn't appear to the running system, and we opened the server carefully to check for correct wiring at the SATA / SAS connectors.

It was necessary to confirm that the drives were installed correctly, because we don't always have access to the facility (except for disasters). Fiddling with the hardware in place and a somewhat flaky proprietary remote console wasn't the smoothest experience. Our next journeys is to distribute services over more nodes, and today's operation brought us one step closer to prepare the existing hardware for multi-node networking and operation (still some blockers remaining).

@Codeberg may I ask where physically your drives are located? Not necessarily city, but who owns the space? Is it just a warehouse you use? Or is it a company that rents server racks? Something else?

@filipesm https://docs.codeberg.org/getting-started/faq/#where-is-codeberg-hosted%3F is not super precise, but yes, most stuff (apart from outgoing emails) is- in Berlin, Germany- on hardware Codeberg owns- in a rack from another non-profit- connected to the Internet via that non-profit (routing / networking, peering etc)- overall located in a commercial datacenter (the non-profit rents rackspace, which profits from bulk savings and long-term collaboration compared to us renting it)

@Codeberg Is there any update on the performance issues with Codeberg. Even small Git operations are taking a long time for me. It's pretty much unusable.https://codeberg.org/Codeberg/Community/issues/887#issuecomment-779987

@ProfessorCode Yes. Yesterday, we installed two new SSDs into our server, which are now slowly filled. We expect this to speed up operations on average, but until all data has been moved to SSDs, occasional slowness might still occur.
