I've just been informed that at least one fediverse server hides my profile and sends messages cautioning account holders about me. No idea why. Anyone else seen anything like this? Any idea why I've been targeted?

@strypey I've seen this once or twice - like someone followed me and I got a message asking me whether or not I want to approve the follow, even though I don't have my account protected generally. There was a vague message about the moderators having flagged the account or something, but no explanation why they did.

@strypey Is it definitely your personal account, or maybe everyone on your server? If you follow someone on a server which your admins have silenced then I think you get some kind of warning about that.

@strypey Wow. That’s positively surreal. BUT, given how diverse the fediverse is, it’s possibly a good thing - you might be getting flagged by assholes and/or nazis.

@sidawson not in this case. I don't want to name names, but it's one of the larger servers, which is why I'm surprised.

Hey @aurynn, you're on the inside track of inter-server discussions about moderation, any clues?

@strypey this'll be either you or the server you are on got set to Limit by the remote server

@aurynn> set to Limit by the remote serverThat's ominously vague and vaguely ominous :P Is it normally used to Limit accounts/ servers perceived to produce excessive traffic, or to Limit accounts/ servers perceived to be... concerning. Or a bit of both?

@strypey Well it's just what would be causing it. Setting "limit" on a server (effectively) just goes through everyone on the server and marks them as limited.Marking as limited does what you see.An admins could limit a server for any number of reasons.

@aurynnOk, thanks for the insight. Guess my next step could be reaching out to the server in question and ask if it's our server being limited, or just my account, and why.

@strypey Best approach is to ask the server, yes. I don't know of anyone who's limited your instance, or you personally, so
