       Last year I decided to finally pay for a subscription to Medium dot com, and now I need to decide whether to renew it. I have at times found great content there, but there's also so much fluff and bad writing - it's a bit of work to sift out the good stuff. Thoughts?

       @clackable I know there's great content on the service, but they don't do a great job of surfacing it for me. If you follow topics of interest that's great, but 3/4 of the articles on "photography" for instance are garbage.

       @shacker I keep it because you get a free branded publication/domain with your membership. Yes, it's vendor lock-in, but I'm getting enough benefits from the bundle.

       @shacker True. But as an avid amateur photographer, I find most writing about photography awful. (I do really like dearsusan.net quite a bit—and highly recommend if you’re not familiar with it.) But I wouldn’t expect too much from Medium on the subject.
