Realizing a lot of good things could happen if we had more industry recognized engineers get together and actually put a foot down and say we're not willing to work at companies that partake in layoffs, and that our interest in working is entirely dependent on that.we need to set things up so there is an immediate blowback and punishment when exercising these strategies anywhere in the industry

Partaking in layoffs should be the equivalent of a employee-side rejection list - you start doing them, the effect is that you lose your ability to hire or hold any engineers of a certain caliber.If you're an engineer and looking at a job: consider this. It's been ages since I've looked at a job so it's hard to say how easy this actually is to do but like, it will 100% absolutely without question get worse if we don't start sticking to shit like this immediately

Something I'm also realizing with this: it's kind of clever.I'm not forming a union here, I'm not striking, I am simply declaring my employment is now on the condition of "no layoffs allowed".
