Idly searching on WorldCat, saw a result with an "Open Access/Access free" button, thought, Sweet!...It downloaded a 4-page scan of the table of contents from LoC's catalog. I'm not a digital specialist, but I don't see that as remotely the same level as a full resource available #OA. Surely they can find a better way to denote that there is a sample portion of a resource available.*adds to my grumpy list of why the new #WorldCat really peeves me*

@aehdeschaine So it's not just me? Thank God. Similar complaint with our consortial library catalogue: we had a reasonably decent system before, Aleph (sound basic functionality, simple interface), but it has been replaced with the aesthetically and practically awful EBSCO Host. Now every initial search entry generates seemingly every possible answer, AND then the interface tells you you need to log in to see full results. Sometimes I just want a book, not everything mentioning it. FFS 🤯

@CitizenWald Absolutely not just you. When they first updated, I thought it would be great and quickly realized it is now WORSE. It especially burns me that they made it so you can only link out to records from "featured" (i.e., the ones who pay the fee) libraries instead of all. Exceptionally less useful and so blatantly money-hungry that it's actually appalling. I use it more now like I use Amazon: briefly search the item I want, then go directly to the proper library site.

@CitizenWald @aehdeschaine Not just you. Oh no. Worse and ever worse: OneSearch, an abomination with more record errors than it is even possible to report. #funtimes
