@EU_Commission yes: everywhere I’ve lived, with one exception, we planted at least one tree. So that’s…at least 24 trees on 3 continents. One of the best parts is planting trees with children, then going back years later, and the tree is big! Beautiful! Like the child! If you have a child, or are an auntie or uncle or friend, plant trees together. Take a photo of the child near the new tree(s); then plan to return in two decades. #trees #planttrees #EarthFriendly

#today: plan is fresh coffee on the screened porch if the weather cooperates; NYT crossword; morning walk with the beloved; a bit of weeding and watering; laundry only if need be; reading some Ruth Ozecki. After so many years of working (whether chores or academic work) on weekends, this new mode is weird but really nice. I keep wishing I’d started doing weekends this way much, much sooner. @CitizenWald I have to say, so far, it has been great. It’s as if I’ve gotten huge parts of myself back! I’m sure there’s a honeymoon phase, as w/most things, but so far (3 mos. in), the only regret is not having retired sooner. But I’ll post if or when the downsides present themselves. 👋

FInally figured out a use for the BlueSite. When CNN anchor John Berman & legal "expert" Elie Honig each pronounced "statute of limitations" as "statue" of limitations on air today, I wrote CNN ed-desk, to say "law ≠ sculpture," but also decided to tweet my cranky disappointment. Turns out to have suited the venue. Mastodon is the happy place, the thoughtful, openminded place, but Twitter can be my cranky, outraged, meanspirited place when that is called for (or is just impossible to suppress).
