"On the internet, there is no present, only variously organized fragments of the past.We no longer encounter the past principally as a coherent narrative informing our present and future action into the world. The past, is now encoded in ponderous databases, and it can be readily and endlessly re-interpreted, reshuffled, recombined, and rearranged. This activity is what now consumes our time and energy."#LMSacasas, 2022https://theconvivialsociety.substack.com/p/we-are-not-living-in-a-simulation

@strypey "Coherency" is the key word I've been trying to keep in mind since reading Neil Postman's Technopoly. It seems like such a cop-out for teacher's to pass out tablets so their students can search for things. If the teacher won't select for relevance and put those relevancies into an intelligible structure there probably isn't any need for the teacher. Burdened with Bullshit, some might think tablets help them get through the day. But the trend could make teaching positions obsolete?

@bsmall2> some might think tablets help them get through the day. But the trend could make teaching positions obsolete?@Rushkoff says some very insightful things on what makes teachers different from apps in some of his Team Human monologues, eg:https://shows.acast.com/teamhuman/episodes/jessamyn-westLike the GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums), educational institutions needs to remake themselves for the digital age, but they still offer certain values that can't be automated.
