Wow people don’t like it when you don’t like the thing they like.Never had such a bad like to dislike ratio on a video before. From the comments, I know it’s not that the video is bad. It’s Android people not liking someone saying « Android doesn’t work for me ».Baffling.

@lcruggeri @thelinuxEXP oh yeah. If you are going to say Something like "Linux doesnt Work properly With my iPhone now, i am switching to MacOS" youre likely to loose your whole community

@thelinuxEXP I hate Android and iOS myself. Throws people for a loop as they try to think of what I may use.

@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social dude just get a fairphone and a custom libre ROM for it lol, please don't give more money to a company that does not deserves it. Using apple for phones is like using windows for desktop.

@thelinuxEXP I very nearly made the same choice as you, in the end it was almost a coin toss between the iPhone 13 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra I ended up with. I still occasionally wonder if I made the right choice. For clarification I too dislike iOS, and generally prefer Android. Sounds like we actually have very similar preferences and thoughts on this one.

@kemra102 I almost went for a Z Fold. It felt like a cool toy, with actual benefits from the form factor, but my issue with SIM cards in Samsung phones prevented me from going there

notwithstanding the sim card issue, there's a method to erase all the bloatware on a samsung phone by using adb commands. I've got a script that removes something like 70 different packages in one go that I always run when I have a new samsung phone in front of me because it's really not bad once all the crap is gone.

@sj_zero @thelinuxEXP I hadn't considered doing anything with adb, might have to give that a try at some point, thanks for the tip!

@thelinuxEXP I thought about giving your video some hate just because of you anticipating you might get some... 🤣Seriously, though, iPhones are made, rather infamously, in China. So actually that doesn't track with your not wanting China-sourced hardware.I would love to go with open hardware running a mature Linux-for-Mobile distro, but as you've already pointed out (and the rest of us have known right along) there's really no hardware worth owning, nor is there a mature OS platform.

@thelinuxEXP The thing is, as you've also pointed out, even if there existed the most awesome and fantastic such option, if mission-critical apps don't exist for it, what's the point?Frankly, I don't want Android apps on that device. I want native apps.

@thelinuxEXP BTW, I'm not a fan of curved edges. They suck when you're trying to put on a screen protector. I really prefer a nice, flat display on a device with square sides.I keep my phone in my pocket when I go out (holsters don't work for me at all) and as a consequence, I've never had a scratched or broken screen.

@EchoTango5179 Yeah, I never had this issue, because I never add a case or screen protector to my devices.Cases just hide the design and change the in hand feel, which is extremely important to me to enjoy using a device, and screen protectors change the feeling of swiping on the screen, which I don’t like either :)

Everyone has got to have their say. Some are brainwashed devotees who will defend something to the end, even when it's shown how flawed something is. Then again, there are loads with the attitude: "I'm not letting them run around spreading that rubbish."My favourite course of action for the more militant detractor is to mute them (Never block them). I mute them so that they think I can still hear and see their insane ravings. 🙈 🙉 🤣

@dick_turpin Oh I’m very liberal with the “hide user” option on YouTube. Bad faith arguments and other conspiracy theories don’t stay up for long if I see them!
