@lowqualityfacts it took 1000s of tiny snails to make purple dye, making anything Tyrian purple cost a king's ransom

@lowqualityfacts Not true, tho. The association of royalty with purple goes way back to "Tyrian Purple" dye, derived from the murex clam (long since fished to near extinction). A coloured robe was quite The Thing, in a world of raw cloth. Also, I don't think there were purple tattoos, until modern times? Blue (eg woad, but also see Polynesia) was pretty universal...

@lowqualityfacts Nonsense. They had themselves beaten until covered with purple bruises by a court official named the Royal Whacker.

@lowqualityfacts The work was conducted by members of the armed forces in lavish ceremonies and is the origin of today’s military tattoos.

@lowqualityfacts There was the best forgotten Elizabethan era where barbed razor armbands were the in thing. History books have covered that part up.

@lowqualityfacts The tattoos were colorless, but then they'd eat snails, which would dye them purple.
