       @clive Have you seen the @AbandonedAmerica feed? These photos make me think of that, as well as #Mosstodon. There is something strangely comforting about nature taking over the built environment.

It imagine what would happen if humanity suddenly vanished — and then describes, with a lot of rigorous research, how the natural world would take over as human systems degraded and collapsed

       @clive @AbandonedAmerica I haven't read that book. Thanks for the recommendation, Clive. I'll look it up. The fact that nature can reclaim the human-built environment so quickly shows that if we help nature out, we could reverse degraded environments faster than we think possible.

       @clive @maximum_mew thanks both, and I second the recommendation for that book, it's fantastic. Romain (photographer in the OP link) isn't a part of the Fediverse yet but I'd love it if he joined, he's very talented
