@clive @AbandonedAmerica I haven't read that book. Thanks for the recommendation, Clive. I'll look it up. The fact that nature can reclaim the human-built environment so quickly shows that if we help nature out, we could reverse degraded environments faster than we think possible.

Okay #Vivaldi #Mastodon tool, you have got a major problem. When I went to add alt text to the image above, the screen did not fully show in my browser. There was no way I could submit the alt text to add it to my photo. I could not scroll down to find a button, nor could I change the size of the Mastodon pop-out. I am mad that in trying to make my post accessible, the Mastodon tool built into the Vivaldi browser is not accessible. Please fix this in a future update.

@clive It's amazing how much I learn about new music through reaction videos. The Charismatic Voice is particularly good because I also learn about how the voice works while people are singing.

@clive What's old is new again. My mother-in-law, who is 91, grew up helping in her parents' service station and could diagnose what was wrong with a car by listening to it.

@clive As a person who actually got a degree in weaving, I heard all the snide comments about basket weaving. Coming from a family of artists, I ignored them. The intrinsic values of weaving (all of which you touch on, Clive, and more) were not lost on me.

@clive @pluralistic Excellent article on the Luddites, Clive! That was one thing I didn't get with my weaving degree ... a history of weaving or important events related to it. Heck, one of my work-study assignments had me photographing women's art out of books so they could be used as slides for teaching in art history classes. Most of the slides to that point featured only men's art.

@kyle @clive @pluralistic That is exactly the point a friend of mine made on LinkedIn in response to my post, Kyle. College is for opening the mind, not just job training. Though, ironically, if I had taken the weaving course in an earlier era, it probably would have been job training.😁

@clive My husband and I have been trying to use different emojis as of late. It's a challenge. -- This morning, I texted my daughter that I missed having her 🐶around. None of the emoji faces expressed that sentiment in quite the right way. What a 🥒!

@pluralistic "Jimmy Carter adopted a handful of Friedman’s measures — neutering anti-trust law and kicking the supports out from under guaranteed pensions in favor of “market-based” 401(k) pensions that forced workers to gamble against sophisticated stock brokers for the chance of a dignified old age." I am so very glad Cory has said that 401(k)s are gambling. The entire stock market is nothing but rich people gambling with their money and ours.
