My dad died the same way last month.One morning he saw the doctor a week after surgery. They said he looked great and was healing well, good vitals, no blood issues. He texted me to ask if the kids could spend the night before our extended business trip. I said sure.In the middle of the night I was woken by police because he had a catastrophic multi-valve heart failure. His death was attributed to “arteriosclerosis” – five days after they declared he had no issues with arterial plaque and no history of heart troubles.He had four COVID shots and I’m legally required to say that is entirely unrelated or I will be murdered by CIA-operated Jewish space lasers.Anyone can die at any time. It seems anyone does die at any time a bit more often in our brave new world.I’m very sorry for your loss.

@istvan @txt I remember when my dad died. In the back of my mind I still considered myself kind of a child until then. I somehow thought he was going to be there forever. Only once he was gone did I really became and adult with the full weight of being the head of the family, who's responsible for everybody, and has nobody else to run to if he has problems to solve. Those of you who still have your parents, appreciate them. They won't be there forever.

Well we see that every few years it seems; 4chan saw multiple killers as well as a couch cuck with the block land forums and the likes of those people. There is a boldness in interacting with strangers that I can understand. Losing loved ones is tough. Losing them suddenly is extra-tough, especially if you had just talked to them recently.Everyone grieves differently, but three things that helped me were:1) Keep hanging out with friends and doing normal stuff, even if it feels hollow (fake it till you make it)2) Don't shy away from feelings of grief- it finds a way to bubble up if suppressed, and there is no "correct" timeline or way for it to happen.3) Find a way to take them with you- whether it means living by their values, get into a hobby you both enjoyed, get a tattoo that reminds you of them, whatever.
