One thing that worries me in the current internet trends is the strong push towards the single answer or the single feed: the “For You” feed where users are supposed to receive the content they want to watch or read; the single answer to a query given to ChatGPT or to Google (with their infoboxes or their new Bard AI thing); the single rating that is supposed to sum up all the opinions about a movie or a restaurant; and so on. We are losing opportunities to look around and make our own choices.

@miramarco I don't think we're really "losing opportunities" but rather people becoming to lazy to get those opportunities they are offered. We can go to the library just fine and read up on a plethora of books regarding the workings and safety of vaccines (just to name something).Yet most people decide to just rely on Google, Twitter etc. to "find that information".Not because the library isn't an option but because people are too lazy.

And what I’m worried about the most is the fact that there will be people whose internet presence will be moulded by this paradigm. We older people know what is being taken from us and we might be more willing to look for it, to scroll down or click around to see the reviews, the extra links, the accounts that are not being promoted to us. But if you don’t know that you have such a chance, would you look for it?
