       Just saw last week's "news" that verified users on the birdsite will get a cut of the ad revenue from ads that appear in the replies of their threads.  Seems to encourage the toxicity that brings out the worst of that place, no?

       @LhasaCM surely inviting hordes of grind-lords and hustlers to starting trying to generate passive income using Twitter engagement will make normal people want to spend time there.

       @peter It also just seems like a desperate attempt to try to increase subscriber numbers by promising a sliver of the tiny ad revenue they're generating these days.  (Makes me wonder if the decision to pull the API was also influenced by people who were using it to pull updated counts of Twitter blue subscriptions - showing that they were only around 300k...)
