Should we go to back to personal blogging (say, on Wordpress) or join the move to Substack? Both depend on a service provider, but there's no obvious reason for them to pull the plug, unlike with ad-driven platformshttps://www.theverge.com/23513418/bring-back-personal-blogging

@johnquiggin personally, I'd rather just pay for a cpanel site and have control over your own content. It's how I ran my blog back when I was writing on the NBN. I had to upgrade it a few times until I found the right balance between bandwidth and cost, but it was about $30/mo for my 50k-200k impressions per article blog

@johnquiggin Depends on whether you want to charge for access. A newsletter is better if you want a subscription service. If you just want to put your thoughts out to the world you’re much better off with a blog, where it can be indexed and archives using all the regula web stuff.
