By the way, I predict a significant probability that within the next month the GOP and Democrats will push to make Daylight Savings Time permanent, which is exactly what virtually every expert says is the worst possible decision if you're going to change the current situation. Rather, if there's going to be a change, it should be to permanent Standard Time. The U.S. did try all-year Daylight Savings Time many years ago. I remember. It did not go well and was revoked quickly.

I'm still not clear on how the experts think they're gonna get everyone to agree that 8PM is late night and stop scheduling stuff for that late so we can get up at 4AM with the sun in the summer

@lauren That said, I absolutely hate changing the clock all the time. I’d like them to pick a time and stick with it. (Also notice they never move the time ahead during work hours!)

@lauren worst possible decision? That definitely sounds like the US government.(And California's, who approved permanent DST a few years ago if the US let us do it. Ugh.)

@ssarhangi That was how the original anti-daylight savings time campaigns were phrased, "keep natural time."

@lauren If I remember correctly (and I could well be wrong) the way the laws are written on the books makes it easier for individual states to go to DST than to rewrite the law, pass it anew, and go to permanent standard time. That's if the states, individually do it. Of course, all bets are off if its Congress doing it.

@lauren Trudging to the school bus three hours before sunrise was a real treat.
