       In the summer of '21 I started messing around with eurorack. I definitely appreciate the physicality of knobs and wires, and I've been able to find some modules that sound interesting and are fun to modulate with, but I keep trying to reconcile the vast gulf between the audio I've produced with it, and the music I'd like to create. I don't want a wall of modules, but I'm not sure that a compact system (while fun) can produce what I'd like efficiently.

       @tendigits I guess the question is, what do you want to produce? Do you want to make music, jam or just play around and make weird sounds? All these are valid as long as it is fun and/or scratching your creative itches.Have you considered a hybrid setup though? You could use modular to produce ambient, percussive or generative stuff and a computer or drum machine for sequencing and arrangement. Or even augmenting your hardware setup with VCV rack!

       @bd @tendigits And Cardinal, open source & free software  based on VCV rack, but that comes with some hundred modules pre-bundled.

       @popolon @bd I tried cardinal a little, I can't believe they got all that to work in a web browser! Of course this only makes my option paralysis worse, but I'm still grateful for all the tools, especially open and free.
