Hell, why not $500 month? Or a $1000? And yeah, I'd love to see that data on scammers and "opinion manipulators". By the way, what IS an opinion manipulator? Gee, I thought that described you Elon, and your collection of fascist sycophants.

@lauren I'm happier here. He can shove his thing where the sun don't shine.

@lauren $1200 a year is not terrible but is the approximate minimum required to limit this to real businesses. My guess is he also wants to take out guys like SiliconJets.

@joelpomales Unfortunately, Twitter is still vastly more influential in every possible way than here, and I'm increasingly doubting that the #Mastodon Priesthood will permit this to change in a meaningful way.

@lauren Scammers and manipulators are way too poor for that. $100/month? That's social science grad student money!

@joelvanderwerf I assume $100/mo is the opening salvo, to be continuously increased toward helping to keep Elon in private jets.

@lauren He does not get that a Read-Only bot can not be a manipulator. This sounds like an excuse with the goal of driving Twitter to the grave.

@lauren okay, what a lovely target market... making money off the world's criminal class. Goes well with the history of paypall used extensively in payment fraud...

@lauren as usual Musk's poor ability to keep facts ordered in his mind (hence the appeal to him of rw arguments) leads to the conflation of bots with the api. Bots can't uset the api to inject themselves into twitter as profiles.

@lauren apparently something in the order 500 api calls per month $149, up to 10,000 per month for $2500, then enterprise plans after that.

@lauren I think he might honestly not have a clue. I remember a story from someone who worked for rich people and they kinda thought $5 (5 bills) in tips was more than $100 (1 bill). At a certain level of wealth anything below a few million is just meaningless cigar-lighting money.

@lauren I am continuously amazed at how every #twitter decision #elon makes is worse than the last. He is running Twitter like the mob runs laundromats without laundering money.(and yes, I did see what I did there)

@lauren and by clean up he means drive enough people off the platform so that it there is less revenue.

@lauren Aside from nuking all the fun "picture a day" ones. This is a nasty blow for deaf users of twitter, since it means the bot that does auto-captioning of videos will be going away. I suspect it's also going to make it harder for people to keep track of hate speech on the platform, but who knows…we don't know what the real pricing will be, and neither, apparently, does Elon.
