@rysiek I really hope a live TV show or convention invites a Republican on, applies standard make up preshow, and then conversationally asks them if they can sing a bit of the national anthem to prove they know it. Of course, a sheriff is on standby just off-stage/screen....

You know how in the context of many laws, one could often point to some widely recognized work of art and say: "your idea is bad as it would make this illegal."In such cases one can usually assume that the lawmakers simply are not aware of said work of art, as they didn't broaden their horizons enough to really engage with it, ever.Arizona GOP didn't even widen their horizons enough for *Bugs Bunny* to fit in. :blobcat0_0:

Oh and by the way, for all Republican/MAGA talk about "cancel culture" when people don't want to talk to them and "censorship" when a website doesn't want to associate with them, this right there is what actual censorship looks like.Using the power of the state to ban certain forms of expression.Yet again fascists had been telling us for years what they really want to do, by way of projecting their intentions onto "The Radical Left".

And banning books and trying to takeover universities.Loads of people might think, because Biden, things will calm down, I think the 🇺🇸 is entering a second phase, towards actual neofascism and the far-right / maga swarm is going to takeover, institutions, intoxicate all levels of power until the next Trump or whatever comes out of the GOP.Biden was an interlude.

@rysiek from Europe, it's horrific to notice the slow death of US institutions and the impression I have is that there isn't much fighting back against it, as if people were too much burned out to fight.Exactly what the red swarm need to progress.The hangover is going to be hard

I am also not in the USA, and I am petrified not even by what the alt-right is doing, but by the Democrats' "business as usual, reach across the aisle, bipartisanship" approach.When I kept hearing the phrase "the guardrails worked" in the context of the 2020 election, I just rolled my eyes.This is perhaps slowly changing now. One can hope.

@rysiek That you're not from the USA is obvious, because if you were you'd see that what you're calling "the Left" is really just the mainstream center-right Democrats. Believe me, those of us who are truly on the Left here are deeply concerned and criticize the Democrats for their "business as usual reach across the aisle, bipartisanship" appeasement-as-compromise approach. And we know we're in a lot of trouble, this being more proof of that. @rmdes

Whatever you're doing isn't working?And I'm not writing that out of nowhere, I'm not in the US either but I follow US politics since 20 years and I'm not seeing anything, in any part of the political spectrum that can nudge "the Democrats" in the right direction.Maybe a change of tactics?
