Sometimes, for conferences, I add my half-work account onto my phone. It's a good way for colleagues to get hold of me fast, without having to resort to my private account or messager apps, when planning dinners or similar. Now that the workshop is over and the last colleagues have left, I'm very happy to remove it again, though. No work on my phone!

@vicgrinberg as much as I try to keep a clear delineation between work and home, I have never been able to remove work email from my phone. It’s just far too convenient to be able to sort through emails when works for me.

@danielcolquitt I can't have normal work email on my private phone anyway nowadays (but it was different in the past) but my life is definitely better if I don't randomly look onto work email or slack. Is certainly different for different folks but for me work takes over otherwise :)

@vicgrinberg ah, I see. My work email turns itself off (no notifications/app badges/unread accounts) at a certain time, so that gives me some peace.I would never have slack, teams, etc. on my personal phone — that would be horrendous!

@danielcolquitt that said, my students also have my private number but haven't yet ever had to use it luckily!

@danielcolquitt @vicgrinberg I have zoom in a snap package, half the time it doesn't work or the web interface doesn;t show slides from the presenter, if I can find the room ID I can copy that in to software zoom, then struggle to manually copy the password.I have access to a Big Blue Button instance, this 'just works' whichis really handy as at times I can offer this as a solution to video conferencing, I can't use teams, zoom but how about this, send them a link (and a link to some information) and they are usually fine. But yes, a tutor at a recent course had the same thing, turns off at 17:00 which is fine most of the time, not so good if there is work to catch up on. Sometimes having some flexibility is a good thing. But on the understanding that you are still not contactable after a certain time of day.
