I loved every second of Fierce Appetites by @elizabethboyle. It is so hard to sum up this memoir/book of essays/work of philosophy/history of medieval Ireland in social media friendly bite-size chunks. It is witty, candid (but not confessional), sharp and most of all, it is humane. It is a pandemic diary, a polemic, and a poignant reminder of what makes us and breaks us as humans. AND it offers a brilliant slam dunk case for the humanities. So basically, I loved it @bookstodon

@elizabethboyle @bookstodon apologies as my app is not letting me add Alt Text. Image is the book cover of Fierce Appetites by Elizabeth Boyle. The cover shows a medieval woman on top and in flagrante with a tonsured man. Above the title red flowers are in a scrolling frame.
