Just read Peter Staley's incredible memoir, "Never Silent: ACT UP and My Life in Activism."From the first chapter where Staley &co social-engineer their way into the NYSE and troll the heck out of a bunch of Wall Street traders, to the closing chapter on his friendship with Fauci, it's a really moving tour de force of a history of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and the activism around it.The audiobook is super worth a listen – it's read by the author. He's an engaging storyteller and quite good at accents. Here's where to find it: https://openlibrary.org/works/OL25315941W/Never_Silent or you can read an excerpt here: https://www.poz.com/article/searching-actup-peter-staley#lgbt #queer #queerhistory #activism #aids #memoir #autobiography #pandemic #books #bookstodon

I also really appreciated the ways that throughout the book, Staley introspects on the ways that his experiences were informed by privilege. He spends a lot of words reflecting on the mistakes he made and things he could have done better as an activist and as a person. It's a profoundly thoughtful book, while also being funny, entertaining, and more than a little raunchy :)
