@Lowie when I was a kid, we had guns, we had gun safety classes in SCHOOLS!! We had shooting competitions, skeet shooting etc etc…we didn’t shoot each other!! What has changed?? Mental healthcare?

@notroot @Lowie the only way to get rid of the guns is to repeal the 2A and confiscate every existing firearm! That will not happen anytime soon, and in California we have the toughest gun laws in the US, even have to have a background check to buy ammo!! What else can we do???

@Computeforloot @Lowie Agreed, the 2A has to go... either that, or SCOTUS reform, term limits, checks-n-balances, but I don't see how to achieve the latter this bitterly divided.Perhaps if the GOP really does go the way of the Whigs and Know Nothing Party ... if they're reduced to a 3rd party like Libertarians...What's needed is a viable Progressive party to flank Dems on the left, pushing Republicans into irrelevancy... with their help, of course.ETA: NOT the Green Party. Fuck them.

@Computeforloot @Lowie The party says something, though... especially Republicans, who vote goose-step and operate on strict hierarchy.Paraphrasing Will Rogers way back when, "I'm not a member of any organized political party. I'm a Democrat." There is no "Big Tent" in the Republican party. And any voter who thinks they personally know every candidate well enough to judge their individual character is a sucker.
