Aside from politics (yes, hard.. I know) What do YOU think? Should countries like Germany and the Netherlands send (Leopard 2) tanks to Ukraine to help them recapture (parts of) their country?#Ukraine #poll (it's about opinion, no consequences in this poll)

@stux Every nation that values democracy should be sending everything they can to help the Ukrainians. It’s been almost a year, they’ve suffered long enough. Just the notion that sending help - in the form of tanks, drones, whatever - is still up for debate in some nations is disheartening, to say the least 🙏🏽

@stux well, as long as it doesn't make them vulnerable in the first place. Yes, it sets the precedent for more tanks which can lead into the not so impossible scenario of counter-invasion, but Russia has an enormous trove of tanks and the capacity to make more/repair existing. So at this very time and place it's a good decision and will, probably, stay that way for some time. Then we'll see.

@stux I can't form an opinion. I only know some of the stories from the news and social media. I don't condone Russian actions. But sending tanks is throwing oil on a fire. But the conflict seems to be going nowhere. Intervening as an outsider could cause even bigger conflict. Have Russian allies involved and get to WWIII (or are we already at WWIV?) So I'm by far qualified to have an opinion on this conflict.

@stux Prolonging this war just hurts Ukrainians. The Donbas and Luhansk regions voted to be part of Russia. What the region needs is peace negotiations so that lives aren’t lost, not more militarization of one or the other fascist. Everyone agrees that Russia is fascist, but through NATO colored glasses fail to see that Ukraine suppressing Communist parties and minority groups and promoting Nazis is also fascist.

@stux I was watching Vikings series and I feel that world is going back to same path which is in history. Everyone can live peacefully but the urge of power has changed humans.

@stux I think it's understandable that the Germans are hesitant, they are afraid to make things worse. But Ukraine are going to get their tanks and everything they ask for in ways the press and public won't know about, I am certain of that. Fortunately the public doesn't get to know everything. If it was up to me the press wouldn't be reporting on the agreements at all. The reporting is only doing things worse imo, because it's just informing Russia about EU's next steps.

@stux I cannot imagine what it must feel like to wake up every morning (if one is so lucky, given that attacks on civilians) and be at war and in danger. IMHO the rest of us must do everything we can to help protect the Ukrainians and end the attacks on them and return their stolen land and children to them. So much loss already, and for what. It hurts the heart and boggles the mind that Russia continues to do this.

@stux, Of course, they should. And the situation is much more dramatic than you can see in the news. I was visiting my family a year ago and have been unable to leave since, so I've switched to support mode for guys I know. Some of them are in assault battalions, which means they should have the best staff available. And they mostly fight with 50-60 years-old stuff donated by other countries. Because it is just not enough modern weapons, it is rare and tends not to have repair parts

@stux my opinion is that "politics" should not get in the way of doing what's right. Unfortunately it never seems to be so simple in the real world...

@stux I'm curious, no judgment, but why did those who said no say no? Are there things about the situation I don't know?
