I really hate to 'set people up' against each other about guns for example but I want people to think about this and hopefully contribute just the slightest in 'solving' the issue and maybe saving a life.. I know it's a long shot but it's sooo frustrating to see all unnecessary deaths against mostly vulnerable groups of people while I can't do a thing about it... I don't want to look away, that doesn't solve a thing so maybe I can set a switch in someones head who can do something about it..

@stux The only thing I’ve got is that guns need to be better regulated. There has to be a requirement as far as classes, etc goes, even if it’s inconvenient. Taking guns away, that’s not even a thing. It’s just an untrue talking point. I do believe that AR-15’s belong in the military and that’s it. I don’t think we’ll ever be able to get everybody to agree on this. The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with it, btw if people were willing to actually read it. Responsibility is key.

@Curiouscat He's a big example :blobcatgiggle: but there are many others who have similar thinking but maybe don't resond in fair of replies :blobcatgiggle: it's just that.. uh.. im more for love! But to get that we need to get rid of hate or things that cause it in this case i guess

@stux My personal view is that as long as nobody else is affected and weapons regulations should follow the spirit of hazardous materials in that people are required to use the least dangerous solution adequate for the purpose, it’s reasonable to make weapons available. At the same time, people with maximalist position on gun entitlements can be entirely dismissed as being unserious and not contributing to the conversation.

@stux Priorities - to the most most lives...1. Stop eating meat. More individuals are killed for food than for any other reason. In the US eating meat causes more premature deaths than any other cause. This causes billions of animal deaths and millions of human deaths each year.2. Wear a respirator and encourage others to wear a respirator. A respirator protects against many deadly respiratory viruses as well as from COVID-19. It is much more risky to go our in public without a properly worn respirator than it is to drive without a seatbelt.3. Stop drinking alcohol and encourage others not to drink alcohol. It kills many more people than guns do.4. Don't try drugs that can cause overdoses, like opiates. 5. Eat a healthy diet. Avoid carcinogens like tobacco, meat, and acryramide (from cooked starches like potatoes and toast).6. Slow down when you drive.These are where most of the premature deaths come from. Guns are way down the list, but those who run things and control the media want people to believe that guns are a huge problem so they can distract people from the real problems in society.

@stux I'm not a big gun person myself, I did grow up in a gun owning family but they were handled responsibly and not assault rifles. It just seems that there needs to be more regulating as purchase rules vary from buying them in a business, from a private owner, or a gun show.

@stux What I find amazing about the entire issue is this:So many gun advocates stand on the principal that guns are necessary to protect themselves and their loved ones from bad actors.Yet nearly all shooters are killed by police, never one of these valiant "defenders of the 2nd amendment".Odd that.That and none of them admit that if guns were illegal, there'd be no need for guns for self-defence, because no-one would have guns.Odd that too.

@stux I guess this is a hot potato issue that Americans just love to fight over. For the rest of us elsewhere the proper and right choice is a no-brainer. And please (some) Americans should stop exporting their love of guns and violence to my country.

@stux The thing that you need to grasp, to put this in perspective, is that many American sincerely find Ubiquitous Murderosity LESS threatening than the idea of going unarmed.They belive the current situation is inherently, morally GOOD, compared with a situation of fewer murders.It's a fascinating inversion of values. Many of these people also belong to churches which teach that, if people do the things Jesus explicitly said to do, it's because they are agents of the Devil.

@stux Terror plays a massive role in this repeat scenario. Citizens are terrified, all the time, in all places including their own homes. They fortify their lives by feeding the terror, and those in power/and without, watch. The World increasingly looks at the US and sees hypocrisy, sadness and delusion. It’s not safe. It’s not representative of a socially sophisticated state. It’s very quickly disappearing up its own arse and that’s a tragedy.
