Question for you all - as an experiment, I installed #Ubuntu on a partition of my 2013 Macbook. Never used or installed #Linux before. Umm, now what do I do with it? Anything fun? I have some programming background but only at the PHP level of thing. Although I've done some command line stuff on the Mac, so I understand how that works. I started on GUIs so I find it clumsy not to use one for most tasks.Suggestions, please? :)

@anathema_device It's your computer so you take it in whatever direction you want.

@anathema_device What would you normally be doing at this point with any other operating system?

@jxself browsing, writing, excel accounts, a little drawing etc. I can do all that in Ubuntu already. I was looking for something more creative on the computing side of things. Maybe I need to build a robot :)

@anathema_device Make music? Play games? Use Blender to make 3D things?

@jxself now 3D is something I've never mastered, so I'll try that. Thanks!

@anathema_device I use #LinuxMint, but I'd be surprised if #Ubuntu doesn't have the same or similar effect(s).Play with customising your window frames, colours, transparency, multiple desktops, window control icon appearance and placement, window behaviours etc."Wobbly Windows" makes windows stretch, then snap back, as you move them.

@anathema_device I'm using Linux (#ubuntu #mate) as primary OS on my 11 year old 2011 iMac (which I use for everything), and it works like a charm with the newest apps and the coolest desktop effects ever made (provided by the still awesome #compiz wm and compositor). Everything feels snappy, fast and polished. It really makes you wonder why are people throwing away such capable machines. BTW you can do basically everything you normally do with macos. You just need to learn new apps.
