So, when I in the Navy, on submarines, there was homeless guy...hung around the gates out at Bangor...his name was Jimmy...I was walking by one day, and he saw my Dolphins, and he said "God bless you, submarine man!"I'm an atheist. Always have been. So you know what I said to him?"God bless you too, Jimmy!" Because when someone wishes you well, it doesn't matter what you believe. It matters that another human wants you to thrive.

@EmpireofDirt Amen. I was at a Buddhist temple one time and I was helping set up for a festival. One Thai lady was carrying some food and almost fell but caught herself, balance and didn't spill any food. She said, "Woo! Praise Jesus!" I started laughing because the more I practiced the more I appreciated any enthusiastic blessing or grateful expression. No one at the temple said anything against her. No one cared. Everyone wanted to hang out, offer food to the monks and eat.
