Going out to clear snow. If I don't come back, avenge my death.

I survived... this round. My electric snowblower bit the dust about 3/4 of the way through. Curse the proprietary battery which Snow Joe doesn't make anymore for stupid and arbitrary reasons!

If we care about electrification - and arguably our policymakers don't - large cordless electric tools should have reasonably standard components which are replaceable. As it stands, when this battery finally dies, our choices are likely another electric blower with a proprietary battery (ick), or a gas-powered thing which we can mostly repair ourselves (also ick).Right to repair IS a climate change issue.

Also, deeply important: why doesn't the City of Minneapolis take care of the walkways residents use? There's no policy debate about clearing the roadways the suburbanites use! /rant

@zompus @vkc Heh, harkens back to the days when I had a 12V battery drill with a butchered battery pack under it that (very crudely, with zip ties) held a small 12V SLA battery which we recharged off a bench PSU every so often.

@vkc If I were an electric snowblower manufacturer, I'd totally make my batteries conform to a standard. Maybe a couple 12V marine batteries, if that's feasible from an engineering standpoint.
