Got Sid installed on the NUC without problems. Not that I expected any, the NUC is pretty basic from a Debian perspective.Decided to go with Plasma, just to really shake things up, and I don't hate it! Breeze Dark looks great at 200% on a 4K screen.Installed the Jellyfin app from Flathub- no issues so far but I'll probably reserve judgement until a week or so has passed.Giving Minitube a try too- so far I don't hate it. Normally I use mpv so this is different!

Anybody have a cardboard box for holding jewel cases + CDs that they like?I hate separating the CD from the artwork, so I like to store my audio in boxes. I'm now out of purpose built boxes and cannot seem to find them online.

Sometimes I wish I'd have gone into music *Tube instead of tech *Tube. For a while, I was really tempted.Today, for instance, I've been mapping out the differences between David Bowie's "Watch that Man" and Lulu's version of the same. Mick & David are playing on both tracks, and there's a TON to unpack with it.I used to be a guitar teacher before I switched careers from music to tech, and I miss it everyday.

OK video nerds. I need help.I'm ripping my episodes of Futurama for Jellyfin. I'm using H265 to save space.Every now and again, a scene from Futurama is throwing these black lines through movement - look at Hermes' mouth and the text.I was worried it was ffmpeg... until I noticed it was also present in the source. This still was taken straight from the source DVD. So... is this just some goofy deinterlacing artifact from when they produced the DVD in 2003? Other shows don't do this.

I survived... this round.My electric snowblower bit the dust about 3/4 of the way through. Curse the proprietary battery which Snow Joe doesn't make anymore for stupid and arbitrary reasons!

If we care about electrification - and arguably our policymakers don't - large cordless electric tools should have reasonably standard components which are replaceable.As it stands, when this battery finally dies, our choices are likely another electric blower with a proprietary battery (ick), or a gas-powered thing which we can mostly repair ourselves (also ick).Right to repair IS a climate change issue.
